Are you a woman or man in your 20s, 30s or 40s who believe that you are called to marriage but just have not found Mr. Right or Mrs. Right yet? Well, then this blog is just for you.
How to find Mr. Right and Mrs. Right to avoid Mr. Wrong and Mrs. Wrong!
Perhaps you are in college, perusing a career, perhaps you are in between jobs, or unemployed at the moment. Whatever your situation is right now, embrace it and think of this time in your singleness to better yourself as a young woman and a daughter or young man and son of God.
In the Song of Songs, it repeatedly says ‘do not wake my beloved before she pleases’ (2:7). Trust in God’s timing, even when you think that love is well overdue. God is teaching us the virtue of patience, something which we all fall short of in the busyness we all live in, doing this and that, going here and there. Think about it, we don’t like waiting in queues to go to the checkout, we get frustrated and impatient. Therefore it’s only human and natural to sometimes get discouraged if you haven’t found ‘the one’ God has chosen for you. As a close friend of mine always says; there’s God’s plan and our plan and they are never in sink with each other. So trust in God’s plan for your life, as he always writes the best love stories.
Make the most of your time being single to prepare yourself to become a godly spouse and work on building the relationship you have with Jesus Christ, the most important relationship in your life. We have to give ourselves wholeheartedly to God, trusting in his divine providence and loving him with all of our hearts. ‘Make Yahweh your joy and he will give you your heart’s desire’ (Ps 37:4).
So do not despair about having not yet found ‘the one’. Rejoice in what you have right now and use this time to prepare yourself for your future spouse. Pray for your spouse, one of the saints I love to pray to is St Raphael the Archangel, as he stands before the throne of God. Ask the saints to intercede for you before the throne of God, to lead you by the hand to the one God has chosen for you.
Little snippets of advice.
Firstly TRUST in God, when you trust wholeheartedly in God’s will in your life, you can’t go wrong.
Secondly keep God at the center of your heart, receive the sacraments regularly mass, adoration, reconciliation, we receive so many graces from the sacraments.
Thirdly do things you want to do, take up hobbies, go out meet new people, get involved in your local parish, volunteer, learn how to bake, sow, play a musical instrument, try a new sport, whatever you are into, and get involved!
Lastly, pray for your future spouse because they need your prayers.
