Have you ever been told you are in a season of waiting?
In the waiting time in 2 Chronicles 7, Solomon enters prayer at verse 1, and throughout verses 1 to 11 all the people celebrated before God responded and answered their prayer. They knew the presence of God was with them, that was enough for them to worship. It wasn’t until verse 12 that God answered Solomon’s prayer. It’s hard to celebrate when things aren’t going right in life, however, remember Philippians 4:4, ‘Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, Rejoice’. It’s easy to get down in the dumps about things not going our way in life, however as Christians, we are called to something higher, we are called to be a light in the world and trust everything to Jesus.
What are the things we can focus on in the season of waiting:
- Focus on the relationship – get to know God for who he is, his faithful love is forever. By his grace, we can go to his throne and ask him for something.
- Don’t forget what you already have – there is a difference to know something and to realize something. In John 3:16, we are told ‘for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life’. You might know that, but do you realize it? God’s great love will never be separated from you. Even though God doesn’t directly answer certain prayers. God gave his Son for us so we can have eternal life.
- The waiting can be fun – you got to have faith, faith is the confidence in what we hope for and the assurance of what we cannot see. We must be Kingdom-minded thinking people. There is nothing impossible for God. Solomon stood before the whole assembly of Israel and prayed the prayer. It took faith to do that. Be bold and pray the prayer. If you are struggling with faith – you need to ask God to give you the faith for you to believe. Even the apostles asked God to increase their faith.
There are days when we all need vision and perspective, know that the Lord listens to the desires of your heart, and wants you to thrive. Jeremiah 29:11, ‘I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future’.
