Life can be difficult and tough to navigate your way through, but through Christ, we can do all things. Do you have the fear of letting people down? Fear is powerful and when you let it overwhelm you, it’s hard to see anything but the fear. But our God is sovereign and he is King and God sees you and knows you right where you are. “When I am afraid, I put my trust in you.” Psalm 56:3. In our society, many people suffer from anxiety and worry and this can turn into hours upon end reliving a certain conversation you had with someone or wishing you did something differently. Each of us are imperfect human beings striving to be better and do better in life. God loves you for who you are right at this moment, no matter what our situation is. He is so in love with you that he died on the cross so each of us can have eternal life. This unconditional love is imprinted on our hearts.
How can one overcome the fear of letting other people down?
Firstly we must depend on God’s word to help us through the day. We must cling to the word of God, as it is our survival guide in our lives. Prepare your heart in the morning, read the good news of God, and allow him to set your day. The rosary is often an underestimated prayer and one of the most powerful devotions we have in the Catholic church. Praying a daily rosary really helps to calm your fears, leaving everything into Our Lady’s hands.
“Peace is what I leave with you; it is my own peace that I give you. I do not give it as the world does. Do not be worried and upset; do not be afraid.” John 14:27
Use your gifts
God gave us gifts to glorify him. God is limitless, what he can do when you are listening to him is unbelievable. Often times we can come across as being right all the time and this can bring pride. What we stand for is important and having those conversations with friends who do not think the same as you do, is important. But, when we hold on too tight what we are right about, this can lead us alone, isolated, and not reach out to others. Finding that balance of talking to friends and family about certain topics in a loving way is challenging, but really important. God wants you to be His light in the world.
Surrender to God’s will and Forgiveness
Surrendering to God’s will in your life and forgiveness is not easy. We must remember God forgave first. As Catholics, we are to forgive others and let God do the rest. Do not be burdened with resentment, we must fully surrender to God and in this surrender, he can do marvelous things through us. So if your struggling with the fear of letting other people down, leave that fear at the foot of the cross and pray about it. God wants you to have peace in your heart and he wants you to be free, all he asks is for you to have an open heart.
